What to know about money when traveling to Peru?

The official currency of Peru is the Peruvian Sol (PEN). The exchange rate may fluctuate, so exchanging money at a local bank is advisable. Credit cards are accepted in larger establishments like hotels, restaurants, and shops in rural areas. Cash is the primary form of payment in more remote locations or small businesses.
