We are delighted to announce the debut of the Finch Bay Galapagos Hotel‘s Evolution Suites, a new category of accommodation designed for travelers seeking larger, more luxurious spaces while maintaining a strong commitment to sustainability, in this, the 190th anniversary of Charles Darwin’s historic visit to the Galapagos archipelago.
The Evolution Suites, ranging from 753 to 861 sq. ft. (70 to 80 m2), have been thoughtfully integrated into the property’s garden area via a scenic boardwalk. Three suites on the first floor provide elevated ocean views, while three on the ground floor overlook native greenery. Each suite, adorned with soothing earth tones and handsome teak accents on features such as overhead beams, was designed by renowned Ecuadorian architect Alfredo Ribadeneira, with interiors by distinguished interior designer Julio Vinueza.

Comfort and privacy are central to the design. Guests can choose between a king or two double beds, all dressed in soft linens to ensure restful nights. The bathrooms are meticulously appointed, featuring broad-tile flooring, marble counters with double sinks, a deep soaking tub set against a floor-to-ceiling window with vertical blinds, and a separate shower. An expansive private balcony-ranging from 169 to 250 sq. ft. (16 to 23 m2) and furnished for relaxed alfresco moments – completes each suite.
“Our new Evolution Suites represent a thoughtful combination of eco-conscious design and modern comfort,” said Paulina Burbano de Lara, CEO of Metropolitan Touring. “We are delighted to offer accommodations that not only enhance the guest experience but also reinforce our commitment to sustainable practices.”
Indeed, sustainability is a key pillar at Finch Bay. The hotel’s reliance on solar energy – drawing 40% of the suites’ energy from solar panels, as with the rest of the property — reflects its broader environmental and social efforts, including cutting-edge electricity and water management, as well as several community outreach initiatives. The hotel’s signature restaurant, meanwhile, celebrates Ecuador’s rich and diverse ingredients and gastronomy, employing local produce – sourcing 40% of its ingredients from Santa Cruz Island along with produce grown in its own organic Chakrita garden.
Finally, the hotel’s spa offers treatments inspired by local elements, with two spacious massage rooms, hot tubs, a gym, and a yoga shala with ocean views.
Beyond its tranquil bay and sandy beach, the Finch Bay provides an ideal base for exploring Santa Cruz Island, renowned for its emblematic giant tortoises, distinct ecosystems and vibrant wildlife. What’s more, guests can join excursions guided by expert naturalists aboard the hotel’s Sea Lion yacht, which offers intimate wildlife encounters for just 20 explorers on uninhabited islands within the Galapagos National Park.
By combining refined design, generous space and environmental responsibility, the Finch Bay’s new Evolution Suites provide a fitting retreat for world travelers, that honors both the natural heritage of the Galapagos Islands and Darwin’s legacy of innovation and evolution.
