Discovering the Unique Mashpi Lodge Location
In 2001, Roque Sevilla, an environmentalist, businessman, and former mayor of Quito, purchased a section of the Ecuadorian Chocó Forest. After years of deforestation and gold mining exploitation, he aimed to reverse the damage by protecting the unique flora and fauna of the region. In 2012, Metropolitan Touring built Mashpi Lodge on the site of an old sawmill, which meant that not a single tree was cut down in the construction process. With the idea of never competing with nature, offering total immersion for guests, the Lodge is hermetically sealed and has floor-to-ceiling panoramic glass windows.
